π National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day β 25th March
Every year on 25th March, people across the UK come together to mark National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about cerebral palsy (CP), celebrating the achievements of those living with CP, and highlighting the care and support available to them.
National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day is an opportunity for communities, families, and care providers to reflect on the experiences of those living with CP and to recognise the important work of carers in supporting independence, wellbeing, and inclusion.

π§ What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition caused by brain injury or abnormal brain development, usually occurring before, during, or shortly after birth. It primarily affects movement, muscle tone, posture, and coordination, and the impact can range from mild to severe.
Common challenges associated with CP include:
Mobility difficulties β requiring the use of mobility aids or assistance with walking and transfers π§©
Fine motor challenges β affecting tasks such as writing, feeding, or dressing βοΈ
Communication difficulties β speech or language impairments π¬
Health considerations β including epilepsy, sensory processing issues, or fatigue π
Itβs important to remember that each person with CP is unique, and care must be tailored to their individual needs, strengths, and goals.
